Warriors Mechanics in PvP, a Blue Post

Q: What is the role of Vengeance in PvP?
A: Hopefully irrelevant. If making it dispellable isn't sufficient, we'll simply turn it off.

ZZZ...

I honestly don't know why they don't just get rid of everything a tank does for PvP and just be done with it.

OH BUT WAIT! I can taunt pets!

Thing is, if they can turn off Vengeance in PvP, that means that they can turn on and off other abilities depending on whether a unit is in PvP or PvE too. Which is something they're been reluctant to do in the past even though everyone knows it would improve both PvP and PvE if they did.

Because doing as much damage as a dps specc, yet having the survivability and health and cc and counter cc abilities that a tank does, would be fair.
Prot warriors where already a much higher danger in pvp than was intended, giving them a power like vengeance would be silly.

Total agreement with Spinks, if this opens the floodgates for things to be PvP on/off it would improve balance immeasurably, and make both sides of the game better (even though PvP is, dare I say it, a niche within WoW.)

I kinda was hoping to 1-shot scrubs who tried to deeps me. T_T

Ah well, maybe they'll make DK do something beyond chains of nice.

Vengeance is intended to make up for the fact that, in tank gear, tank dps will obviously not scale at the same rate as dps in dps gear.

In pvp, tanks are supposed to wear pvp/dps gear. The scaling problem doesn't apply.

The numbers on tank abilities can be tweaked if they're too low. Vengeance is not supposed to be an overall tank dps fix, but is supposed to solve a specific scaling issue.

LOL :)

I'm not a very big fan of the way tanks are handled in PvP in WoW. Tanks just don't feel like tanks in it. I really liked EQ2's implementation where taunt actually taunts the opponent for a few seconds. Made for some very cool fights :)

GW 2 has the right of it making tanks 'control' characters.
